OK, once again just for fun, let's see who can score the highest on Galaxian by this time next week!

3 ships to start, bonus ship at whatever (doesn't really matter for this one, I guess - mine's set at 10,000).

And yes, I'm crap at this as well, I think my all-time best is just over 25,000. This might encourage me to beat that!

Post your pics/scores below.

1. Fuzzy - 23550
2. Hurray Banana - 20550
3. bones - 14740

You Americans can keep your fangled fancy Galaga.

We prefer (well, me) the original. LOL

Agree Vic, Galaxian FTW, never really liked Galaga played the BBC version a bit during computing lessons at school

Same here, on paper, Galaga is the better game but I never took a shine to it.

Never really remember seeing it much BITD, but Galaxian was everywhere. Favourite game as a kid.

Tough game.

Here's some tips from WR holder Aart Van Vliet.
His WR score, 1,653,270 was done at Funspot and it was incredible. IIRC, he beat Gary Whelans previous WR (1.114 million) on his first life that day Shocked
He even knows a 'safe spot' where they can't get you LOL

Great, thanks Jon I'll watch that tonight (have to take the kids to a Halloween party shortly Dead). Gary Whelan lives in Dukinfield (or did) which is very close to me. Would be good to get him on the forum. Smile

Yeah. Gary's not been on the scene for a while now.
Tony & I met him over at Funspot in 2008 and had a good crack. Obviously, he's a stupendous Galaxian player. He catapulted to fame in the US and TG when, after 20 odd years, he destroyed the Galaxian WR held by Perry Rogers of the US. Nice guys Thumbs Up

It's a wooden 'Supreme Video' cab, complete with fag burns on the cp. The sticker on the coin mech says it's from 1991.

LOL monitor's going nowhere is it with the screws still in!

oh the joys of trying to get the screen wide enough/tall enough! mrs. bones is measuring the the distance between screen edge & full formation, i'm going for a smoke LOL

Divorce avoided, due to "it's not my f*cking fault the screen aint 100% true"

3 galaxips & extra man @ 7000 points.

Game on!

I find the more I try to tweak the monitor image, the more annoyed and frustrating it gets.

So, now my JAMMA cab monitors are basically set to 'like it or lump it' - which means they're perfect for most of my games, but a bit 'out' for others. Otherwise more time is spent making infinitesimal adjustments than actually playing the games!

Can somebody get some more scores posted please, because I need an excuse to have a loud game if Galaxian at 9am on a Sunday morning!

Aint that the truth!

Scored 9000 last night, not even worth taking a pic of.

I'll see if I can do any better tonight!

Played a few games today and struggled to get much past 16,000. Embarrassed

Had a go tonight and did a little better - 23550.

It starts getting stupid difficult at wave 6.

Somebody in Japan who designed this thought to himself: "In 34 years, some stupid Mancunian git is going to be playing this, and he's going to lose life after life after life chasing the 800 point flagship!".

And you know what, he was right. LOL
