Do we have a thread like this? i'm not sure as I couldn't find one.

I've been having a look for some really good Mame cabinet examples...... err no that's a lie.

If you do own any of these i'll remove them... but if you do own them you probably wouldn't dare tell anyone...

Ok so we know of this one!

wow........ what are they for??

this obviousley

and then they must fix to this!

i'm sure the missus would love that in the living room!

Paradise........

Nice paint job!

eh??? foo-king eedyot!

but the monitor rotates!..................

nothing like a game of outrun with that true arcade feeling...........

I rest my case, nice keyboard cp :D
Although, its not that bad apart from the obvious faux pas...
The 16:9 was a generic cab over here, not sure about the uk.

Another, in my defence Im definately *NOT* anti mame, I just think that people go all out to build a cab then throw the ball away at the last minute not finishing off the cab properly. And so it ends up looking like a arcade shaped box with a dodgy monitor fitment instead.

I think he just put one of those pre-built control panels on the sliding out bit on his computer desk..... and then covered it with carpet

Look carefully.... this is like one of those antique fold away cupboard things (besides the cheap mahogany varnish!!)... it all folds away into a cupboard..... Transformers meets arcade meets cupboard

Unless it's been converted to mame with a 12 foot control panel,15 joysticks,186 buttons and a trackball......... I wouldn't worry about it

I want one to put on my computer desk, so I can play the occasional late night game on mame without having to go out to the gamesrooms.

I certainly do NOT understand why the hell people add shelves into arcade machines to put an xarcade ontop? Isnt the point of building an arcade machine that everything is built into one cab?

This cab was actually specifically built for the express purpose of taking the p*ss out of all the Frankencab creators out there.

Speaking of which has anyone linked to http://frankencade.blogspot.com/ - this here. For anyone considering a self build....this is how to f**king do it.

Apparently he went with a pre-made panel because he 'has no idea about electronics' - clearly doesn't know what simple bits of kit arcade controls are to hook up.

Stunning effort on the cab though. Wish I had those kind of skills.

Luke if you were wanting an X-Arcade controller wouldn't it be better to build something similar using an I-pac or something?,surely you've got the parts lying about to do so, I think they are well overpriced for what they are and like you say up there why would people take the time to build something like on this page and then just bang one of those on it!..... the mind boggles.....

Yes, best be careful though. Remember that old Uridium clone on the C64 years back? The guy who wrote it put a large scrolling message in the attract mode of the game telling his girlfriend how special she was. She chucked him soon after that. Moral is to only tell you girlfriend how special she is in a game that is original and good I think. Face to face is also an option for those who speak more than just binary.

I bet retromax went into the toilets with that great Chase HQ pic with Arcade X controller sitting on it

As much as I like Mame, it has precipitated a mass of crap cabinets being built. While these are not originals, we've all unfortunately seen plenty of decent originals trashed just for Mame!

Is this one of them then?, I remember seeing them quite often in a line of three (last chance to own etc. etc....Confused) as they were kids size cabinets and quite small and looked better than this one (or photographed better).... but now I guess they do look like crap if the camera is at the right angleWink

Retro Space

Martijn Koch pays homage to arcade cabinets of yesteryear with http://www.retrospace.nl/ - Retro Space - a sleek update of the very first “Computer Space” gaming cabinet from 1971.

Equally at home in a 1970s retro room or a minimalist mansion, the cabinet features a 24 inch HD monitor and arcade-quality Sanwa joysticks and buttons mounted on a sleek anodized aluminum control panel, enabling you to play all the coin-op games familiar to kids of the seventies eighties and nineties.

Altogether a perfect blend of modern and retro technology and styling.

Most of the CP doesn't look like Sanwa. Cab looks kind of nice, but CP is a mess, imo.

If people are going to create their own arcade machines, why can't they just copy a 'classic' shape of a machine rather than knock up these hideous creations?
*Shudder*

Im still trying to decide whether to buy an old jamma cab or do a complete build for my mame cabinet but after looking through these its a fair bet that I will use an existing cab with decent controls so I dont end up in a hall of shame :)

Is the SFIV image Photoshop'ed onto the screen?

Also how exactlly do you play Call Of Duty: MW2 (as advertised) with one joystick and the trigger buttons missing?

Street fighter IV isn't included in the sale just an old copy of FIFA

OMFG............ at least people are commenting on it truthfully!
Such as this one:-

you put way too much stuff into that thing. i wouldn't even want to have one like that. usually arcade builders think about what they like and work on making the best cabinet for that thing. this just looks like a bunch of buttons and controllers jammed higgledy-piggledy into a plank of wood.
LOL

oh and this one too:-

why isn't this on the crappy arcade cabnets list?! LOL

How the hell can you comfortably play any games on that monster anyway??

Impressive.

What a shame! Natural selection should stop those people from converting/modifying original cabinets (That Chase HQ is clearly suffering... where is it's dignity?)

None of the cabs have dignity in this threadDead, unfortunatley there are a lot of clueless people about... I suppose they are happy with their creations though.

Dear God, those Naomi's have one of the best screens you can get (Nanao) so why?
Even the control panel is reasonable, so why such a stoopid skinny screen?

Not all naomi's have Nanao monitors.

Most of the ones I've come across have had the Sanwa fitted and a couple the Pentranic flat.

The one I own has a Sanwa PFX Tri-Sync fitted.

He's still committed the crime of fitting a screen that's not quite big enough - I measured mine and you can just squeeze a 26" widescreen LCD in.

If I was going to go to the trouble of fitting an LCD (not that I would, I much prefer the original CRT's, but anyway...) i'd at least make sure it was a 4:3 shape LCD. I know they're a little rare now in big sizes, but you can still get them!

Not to diss the thread, but the commentary at the page at wicked retarded (I believe it's called crap mame) is absolutely classic, and only enjoys to the hilarity of these crappy cabs.

Yeah I noticed this and the other two he's selling the other day, only £699.00LOL
I wonder if those 7000+ games that come with it are licensed?Wink
Why do people advertise these things with 1000's of games, do they not know the law???
They should just put that it's "Compatible" with MAME then it wouldn't get removed!
