Another cool option is to be able someone to choose the emulator he wants on boot of each game like retropie (by pressing a button)
Also folders of roms and snaps on fat32 partition will be also cool for easy access by windows pc users

As you know i'm not much intersted in "packaging stuff", is someone want to make a distribution with fat partition can do itself all (like the work of myzar, my support is not needed and i spend my time in make new porting and optimize speed of software).
To change emulator you can always use rgui with the trick of button p1 plus coin while running game...

I can easily switch to a fat partition to storing rom and snaps, i did that, it works , but it takes 3 times more to load, fat is alot slower than ext4 under linux. I don't like to stare at my cab for 2 mins while it loads so i've thrown the fat option away

Yep, Mario 64 is a great game, no doubt.

Best of luck trying to sort out the N64 pad to work on a jamma cab.

I doubt all the moaning, scrounging & kicking off at folk for no reason will help.

That the PB is not exploited at full power ;)
This is bad, 'cause some emulator (like N64) is very close to be perfect...

22/01/2019: how can we check if PB is VGA or CGA?

A way can be to detect if the cable vga/hdmi is connected....

Here i found a nice bash script:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/13746/how-can-i-detect-when-a-monitor-is-plugged-in-or-unplugged

Stay tuned!

#!/bin/bash

export crtProcEntry=/proc/acpi/video/VID/CRT0/state

isVgaConnected() {
    local crtState
    read -a < $crtProcEntry crtState
    test $(( ( ${crtState[1]} >>4 ) ${1:+*-1+1} )) -ne 0
}

delay=.1
unset switch
isVgaConnected || switch=not
while :;do
    while isVgaConnected $switch;do
        sleep $delay
      done
    if [ "$switch" ];then
        unset switch
        echo VGA IS connected
        # doing something while VGA is connected
      else
        switch=not
        echo VGA is NOT connected.
        # doing something else, maybe.
      fi
  done

Hi zanac,
How do I build a vertical emulation station image?
I downloaded your vertical emulation station git from open pb4 .
I also downloaded the theme from your emulation station fork.
What do I need to do next?

to start emustation in vertical mode emulationstation --screenrotate 1 --windowed --resolution 384 224

then you need to make a rotated config for every game you want to run in vertical mode
