Ticket prices seem to creep up year on year. I see the 'apply promo code' button but has anyone seen a valid promo code out there?

I'm there as usual, but the lineup seems a bit weak this year.

the first year I went was amazing with Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Oculus and all the arcade forums had their own area.

Obviously it's a different company, but from traders I know they are just milking it and burning a lot of bridges.

Very true - there was a notable change in the feel of it all when the new lot took over. Ridonculous queues at the Manchester one which considering they were all for pre-purchased premium early access was a joke.

Similarly at Blackpool the lack of signage and queue control was awful. People arriving from the main hotel entrance were hitting the ticket barrier point before even seeing the queue running to the back of the hotel.

Haven't bought a ticket yet as I'm genuinely in 2 minds whether to bother. No decent speakers, fewer machines being covered (Amiga dudes - where are you now?)

And relax...

Well I went today and was extremely disappointed
About half the size of previous years and it cost more for the ticket too
Doubt I’ll be going again :(

We enjoyed it. I would have said it was only marginally smaller but it was definitely lacking any big attraction.

When Dave started R3PLAY it was a show by collectors for collectors and staffed/run by collectors, every year the cabs would be different because they were the cabs supplied form various collectors around the country, sadly over they years the community element has gone and it's now very corporate, you get the same cabs every year that also get dragged around to other shows so everything seems a bit "samey"....

Now as everyone knows Dave & Gordon have both left and so it seems has the soul of the show...

Me too - what's the point in buying an advance ticket if they're no limited so you literally queue round the corner.

This year I pre bought and just arrived about 10.50 as I was in a can't be arsed mood. Walked right to the front of the queue and just flashed my ticket to walk in.

There was zero effort to split the queue into ticketed and non-ticketed people which should haver been the case by that time.

Sorry if I cut anyone up so to speak but take it up with Play.

Once inside I would say a lot of the comments here are similar to my own. All very samey, no apparent effort to introduce anything new. Poor selection of speakers, traders all selling the same old stuff.

Most annoying part was people seem to have forgotten the one credit move on if people are waiting approach that Play seemed to start with back in the day.

Undecided on next time.

Replay don't care, we were supplying the cabs as a community. They don't want that. It's much easier for them to have one person do it all hence someone else swooped in when we backed out.

Community spirit will win out everytime in my opinion. Each year you would get different cabs from different collectors and that keeps the feel fresh and vibrant. Replay are not getting that with current provider, just the same cabs wheeled from one event to the next, and understandably people are becoming bored with it.

Add to that, and let me say I did not attend Play Expo, so this is just what I've heard from other people, that it was very quiet compared to other years. I'm sure it had its busy moments but I gather nothing like previous years. Also was a lack of the big players to show their warez. No Nintendo? on the year they release the switch and Mario Odyssey is around the corner? WTF

Would just like to say that I absolutely cherished doing Replay and PlayExpo, and the experience was absolutely amazing, but in the end the expectations of the organisers was just too much for us. The organisers never had much time for us as a community, and had very little respect. This is a shame as it was a lot different in the first year when community mattered.

Everything you have read is the truth and nothing less.

I agree in that it could be better, but it wasn't too bad. It's the 4th year in a row I have attended, I remember there being various Candy Cabs one year, other than that I think the variety is better now. There were a lot more dedicated machines this year than any other, which is a main draw for me as well as playing the pre 1984 stuff. Pinballs are the no.1 reason I go though, which were excellent again this year.

The lack of any 'big players' was a surprise though, Nintendo should have had a Mario Odyssey demo there and Micro$oft, where were the Xbox One X's running Forza and maybe Tomb Raider Re-mastered from a Re-mastered version. A lost opportunity IMO

I hope it keeps going, yeah, £20 is a lot (prob £22 next year) but its a solid day out
