I've been renovation a couple of rooms at my work and they were throwing away a conference table so I thought it might work well for a 4-player pedestal arcade I've been wanting to make for a while, this is my progress so far.

Had to saw it in half to get it in the van!

Cut the ends down and sandwiched them together.

Set up the layout for 4 player and a spinner/arkanoid setup in the middle.

Ah the forstner bit, it went through this thing like butter.

Bit of sanding, went through the laminate but it's getting painted anyway.

Time to make a box

Managed to get some hinges into play here.

Kept the middle section of the table for a base and now I have easy access to the hardware.

More to come...

Epic resin fail, was looking for that sweet glass finish but must have cocked up the mix and it burned the paint and went all wrinkly. So claw back the time I decided after a very rough session of scraping resin gum off wood to just paste comic strips to it instead and then seal that with varnish.

That stuff worked really well

Got some fake leather for the trim.

6mm ply used for putting it on..

screwed it on..

Time to add some hardware, cut some checker plating and bring it all together..

One last coat of white and a varnish on the base then cut and fit the plating

Added some corner pieces from a spare set of steel shelves..

Aside from some simple wiring it's pretty much done!

Simply amazing.
I would still be looking at the conference table wondering how to get it out the door.

The control panel artwork is sweet too.

Top job sir, i salute you.

Nice Idea, is there enough room to stand when using player 3/4?
what are you going to hook it up to?
and will that be wall mounted or built onto the Pedestal?

Great start so far :)

Seems to be fine for extra players and right now it's just a control panel that I'll hook up to a PC.

Making this with a wall mounted TV in mind.

thats quite impressive, wish i had it in me to be able to make something like that.

If it was me I'd have a big ass tv on the wall just above it like you said.

Can I ask why players 3 and 4 only got 4 buttons? I'm guessing theres only 4 player games that need 4 buttons, but just so I know.

Sure dude basically only 2 player games required the 6 button fight setup. I made the 8 button setup on players 1 and 2 to accommodate modern pc games like Street Fighter 4 etc.

The 2 buttons on either side of the spinner are to allow for left or right handed play.
