Hi, i  bought 4 of these WEI-YA  power supplies from eBay last year and one of them started smoking straight away! You get what you pay for!! please can someone recommend a decent PSU available in the UK, one that that is known and trusted, i need 4 as i am fixing my quad sega rally ready for my boys 8th birthday party next month.

This was a mod i did to keep all the sega wiring standard and use a more modern PSU

I hate them psu's and fixed way too many over time. I tend to use pc psu's these days, much more stable. The only downside is that there not usually adjustable so may not work on some jamma boards that need a high 5 volts.

They are more than likely fake wei ya PSU's you got
the genuine ones are usually ok

There does not seem to be an easy way to tell without comparing the stickers and boxes with Genuine wei ya psu's

as an alternative it may be worth looking at these https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/Black-Arcade-JAMMA-Power-Supply.html

Looking for a Daytona, Sega Rally cab

I bought a cheap £8 one from ebay with free ship from China! when it got here it had a screw rattling about inside! looking at the board it has hardly any components on it. Might be ok for testing purposes but would never fit it in a machine.

Trouble is the one's I need must have -5v and most don't these days

I got a meanwell one from mouser - not cheap but it does +12,+5 & -5 think it was a 130W.

The ones on ebay are fake Wei-ya.

If the input voltage is 100/120 I've got a couple of spare Japanese PSU's you can have cheap...

While we are on advice, what spray do people buy to spray on plugs and edge connectors? i have been using RS 494-742

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/contact-cleaners/0494742/

but it leaves an oily film which i am not sure about, John's arcade refers to his Deoxit D5 spray.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAIG-DEOXIT-D5-CONTACT-CLEANER-SPRAY-BEWARE-OF-GREY-IMPORTED-CANS-/350740257413?hash=item51a9bf9a85:m:mjF4JsCp7ZJC7GuaLBU08Ig

what do you think? should i get some D5? or have you a better option?

thanks

Oh, I didn't know they do more than one type. Think it's the Super 10, but I'll check.
