Hello all,

Please can someone give me advice on my cps2 sf2 issue!!

The board boots into the warning screen and then the super street fighter 2 930911 Japan screen, and then repeats. It won't boot any further.

Please help me before I launch this think at the wall

Thanks in advance

Have you tried another "A" board?  If it still watchdogs, try reseat/verify the eproms on the "B" board.

Thought process:

1- Do you see anything meaningful on screen? The cpu seems to do its job.
2- What you see is visually defect free? Sounds like your video parts do work ok.
3- Are your program roms ok? Verify your program roms.

Besides that:

CPS2 have a test program, run it.
CPS2 is a two layer design and it may have bad contacts, separate the a+b boards and put them back together.
Another cause for board malfunctioning is bad voltages, check your +5v at the jamma connector, anything below 4.75 is a strong candidate for issues.

Thanks guys.

I have ssf2 x which works perfectly with the a board.

What I see has no graphical defects, it allows me to add credits but then just resets itself.
Tried the reset button and it doesn't do anything!? I'm stumped!

I would definitely check your 5v if you haven't already. I've had some CPS2 boards run fine at a low 5v level and then others not play ball at all at the same setting.

I've checked the 5v and it's pretty much bang on 5v.
It's a weird fault as It doesn't error, it literally keeps booting the same 2 screens repeatedly

Open the case and verify all the program roms agaisnt the right mame set. Or just use the online romident service. If you dont have an eprom reader buy the cheap but highly effective TL866.
