    Posted: 05 January 2017 at 6:56am
Managed to get hold of a dedicated VS cab, but I have missing graphics.  The main board I believe is a Model 2B-CRX, it has a number of flashing led lights that are red and one on green.  When the game runs, the green one remains on, some are off and some and red.  I am assuming the manual will help me gauge what these signify and whether or not they are related to my missing graphics issue.

Any help on locating relevant manuals/schematics would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance.

will almost definitely be video board, I would start by taking it apart, cleaning it all carefully and re-seating all socked chips......take it from there

Worse case you can find another sega game using same hardware and swap bits around if you wish to keep it as Virtua striker........

Thanks mate

Will try that, managed to get the pcb's out, they were only attached with on screw to the base.  Unsure on exactly which board is the video one, I am assuming it is the smaller of the two boards (sorry, I am very much a noob when it comes to pcb repairs)

I'll try a clean and check all the sockets and see whats what.

The larger of the 2 boards is a combined video and CPU board.
The smaller one on top is the rom board :)

Thanks

Just tried 3 different pcb repair specialists, all mentioned they dont do those boards.  I am thinking of extracting the entire PCB, changing the looms and going jamma. Shitload easier and cheaper.

I'll still keep all the gubbins, I prefer the idea of the cab at least having all the original parts even if they don't all work.

Oooohhh....sounds good. Could you send me a pic of the connections etc. Presumably it will need some element of rewire...but hey...if it brings my cab back to life ! I am interested...

Some  of the wiring is similar between Model 2/3 (video, audio, some controls on joystick games). The thing that is different is that the Model 3 boardsets require +3.3v, which your current PSU might not supply.

The video, sound and player controls should be pin-compatible. They're just labelled differently: -

Model 2B/C CN3 == Model 3 CN6,
M2 CN13 == M3 CN2,
M2 CN14 == M3 CN3
etc...

The pinouts are here: -

You can swap the power supply for a PC one for the +3.3v, or get a Model 3 PSU Smile
