Please, someone help me understand the scoring in this game, how can Dave get 4mil on level 8 and Olly 5 mil at level 15 yet Yukes gets 4 mil at level 17?????

Think i'll stick to Pac-Man and Mr Do.

If you can drop about 1/3 of a screen's worth of bubbles in one go, you get 1.3 million.  I feel guilty because Yukes is obviously better at the game than I am.  LOL

It's a good and addictive game RGP. It's all about your balls dropping Wink. You can clear a level quickly and efficiently and get decent-ish points with modest time bonuses. This means you climb through the levels and can get quite high up like Round 12, 13, 14 etc.

Or you can stack balls up all hanging off 1 ball and when you clear that one ball with all the balls attached will drop from just one ball. This means big points baby.

Consider it like Tetris. You can keep the play field relatively clear and tidy with constant clearing, or you can build a massive stack up and wait for the straight line piece and get rid of four rows in one blow for more points. Same principle. The high-round/low-scorers aren't clearing massive drops, while the low-round/high-scorers are. Simples.

I don't think I've written anything in my life where I've mentioned balls dropping quite so much LOL.

Is anyone reliably clearing level 8?  I can only do it on maybe 1 in 10 goes.  The following levels are much easier, hence...

I've found that to be the trickiest one for sure. Some of the levels after that have some nice big drops already set up if you can hit the angles right.

Exactly, the record's in the 30 million area, and I believe there are 30 levels. So that's an average of about 1 million a level. I read http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=puzzle-bobble&page=detail&id=21224 which is states:

Pop bubbles of the same color : each bubble is worth 10 points.
Drop bubbles : the first bubble is 20, and each additional bubble scores double.
