Good morning all,

I dug up an old NEO GEO fanzine from the 90's the other day. I enjoyed re-reading them, reminded me of the joy and excitement of gaming before the internet days. The league table is pretty cool, I'm sure those of you lucky enough to own a Lordsvale Ermm (or mvs mobo) will be inspired to pick-up a few oldies after reading. On that note, are there any cool arcade fanzines you know about?

i tried starting one a few years ago, got many pages done but never finished it. Cry now i've forgotten all about how to use inDesign so would take me a while if i ever wanted to go back to it (most of it was done in a way that it would be pretty timeless). i put it down to lack of time... i love fanzines. there used to be one called "electric brain" that you could pick up from whsmiths that i really enjoyed reading. dunno if anyone else would remember it?

Would love to have a read through Electric Brain, don't suppose you have any issues scanned?

Hi Cedric - thanks for posting those. I guess I might even get some more traffic to my ford mustang wedding car hire site too!

what a coincidence. i wish there were more copies floating around out there. i'm sure there were more copies out, i remember speaking to the guy who edited the fanzine many years ago. but today, happy that some one else remembers this great fanzine. Clap

I bought mine from WH Smiths too. I picked it up at the time as it had a feature (although small) on a neo geo game. I think it also told you how to repair your Snes if you'd blown the fuse using a converter. Would be good to track down some more issues.

i was back home at me mam's over the weekend, i took a couple of photos of electric brain magazine. sorry, a bit grainy due to poor lighting.

big photos so you can read the text. i'll just link 'em rather than post the actual photo.

I used to get Electric Brain but going back before that Onn Lee produced it's predecessor (very home made looking) which I have a few issues of - called..................escapes me now!  He was a PC Engine nut and refused to accept the SFC or MD was better!

I used to like the fanzines also! Although I never read any paper based ones, I liked the one they gave away as a demo on a couple of Sinclair User (I think) tapes called the Enigma Tape Magazine. The issue they gave away was pretty good, and had the Stormbringer music in the background! Thumbs Up

I tried also to start my own, I was going to use a Teletext based idea like the Digitiser pages I think it was on Teletext on 4. I'm sure there was a computer page on Oracle (page the Oracle! Smile) I used to look at also. I was going to do that in Basic and have a machine code routine for music in the background. Never got past the first few pages of the magazine! LOL

Edit: Actually, the program I started is probably still stored somewhere on a 3" disc up in the loft! LOL

i didn't bring the mag back down south with me so it'd have to be next time if someone else don't beat me to it. will photos suffice? as it'd be quite a job getting them scanned and i'm not sure if i'll have the time. Ouch

I've just dug out a few issues of Electric Brain at my folks place: 33, 34 & 35

I'll take them home with me and scan them into searchable PDFs, some time before Christmas.
